Before Old Wood
.

 A fruitless vine,
    whose very wood
        is good for nothing,
Is ripe for pruning,
    for cutting back
        and thrown in fire. 

Before old wood
    begs for the shears,
        consider a stake. 
Even reluctant vines
    need something sturdy,
        a savior of sorts.
