Champion's Belt

.
He who had no sin
Bore ours upon His chin,
Bloodied as a boxer
Who never raised a glove.

His mighty arms revealed,
His fighter's cape for us
In the ring cast aside,
Doffing all earthly pride.

By stretcher carried off,
Our Champion so left,
But returned with such deft
He now helps us fight.

His belt of gold, lifted up
Is ours to stand beneath,
Ours to so unfairly claim
But ours none the same.
