Charlie, Charlie Beesmoth

.
All eyes and ears, a congregation rapt:
"Brothers and sisters, in the name of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
I will not be a pastor of such remiss,
if in closing, I do not so address the
growing division in this church body."
Silence prevailed, not a breath leapt.

"Hallelujah! God's doing a work!"
Brother Charlie, Charlie Beesmoth,
did suddenly shout to the highest rafter,
then started his signature jig, dancing
before God with all his might, just like
King David did, doing David's Dance.
Aghast, red-faced, the throng jeered,
they understood not what Charlie did.

The very next week, the pulpit stood:
"Brothers and sisters, in the name of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
I will not be a pastor of such remiss,
if in closing, I do not remind, Jesus
said we will be known by our love,
for Him, one another, enemies too."
Silence prevailed, no brow could.

"Hallelujah! God's doing a work!"
Brother Charlie, Charlie Beesmoth,
did suddenly cry out to every heart,
then started his signature jig, dancing
before God with all his might, just like
King David did, doing David's Dance.
Aghast again, but this time laughed,
they still knew not what Charlie did.

The following week, rapt as before:
"Brothers and sisters, in the name of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
I will not be a pastor of such remiss,
if in closing, I do not lament so true
we have many gods in our hearts,
and our God is more than jealous."
Silence prevailed, silence did roar.

"Hallelujah! God's doing a work!"
Brother Charlie, Charlie Beesmoth,
did suddenly yell to whoever would,
then again began his signature jig,
dancing before God with all his might,
just like King David in David's Dance.
Aghast again, but this time in shame,
they finally recognize the many heads
of monstrous pride deep in their hearts.

And with the pastor's fair guidance,
and Charlie's light-footed inspiration,
the church did finally turn to God, and
ever so humbly across this nation.

1 Corinthians 1:10
2 Samuel 6:14-22

*Beesmoth–an adaptation of "bee moth,"
a type of moth, an insect, who seeks
nests of bees and wasps to lay their
eggs. The bee moth larvae and the wax
therein produced are considered damag-
ing to commercial honey production.

In the poem/story above, the signifi-
cance of Beesmoth being Charlie's sur-
name is that until God opened the
church's eyes to their monstrous pride
and the damage it was doing, Charlie
himself was as unwanted as the larvae
of the bee moth. Ironically, the real
damage being done was the rampant
pride in the hearts of the congregation.
