If anyone would come after,
needed are disciple spectacles
to see Jesus as Lord.
One lens is denial of self,
giving away all control
to Him,
and discerning the difference
between beckons of the Spirit
and our flesh.
The other is carrying a cross,
committing to live for,
and, if need be,
dying too.
Beyond merely confessing,
believing in one's heart
it is truly so,
and later following Him
step by step,
it must be crystal
Whom we alone owe allegiance.
It is the only map needed
for our long journey home.
