Of Fleas on Horses
and in Love
A flea on a horse
To be sure
Raises its hackles,
But is hardly cause
To put it down.
In the mane
It's much better
To give it a rinse
And be done with it.
We don't do this
With love,
And way too many
See infestation
When it's just one,
And shoot it
In the head.
Wouldn't it be better
To give it time
And get over it?
In the beginning,
Not the end,
It's never good
To toss
Gifts from God.
