The least the world had
to offer,
in truth, the best
it wanted to commit,
to wrap the gift
of salvation to mankind,
It's Creator come in person
to rescue
those gone so wrong,
in swaddling linen,
and laid in a shallow
hollow hewn of rock
filled with
old hay for feeding animals.
The least the devil had to
offer,
in truth, the best
it wanted to commit,
to wrap the gift
of salvation to mankind,
It's King come to break
sin's chains,
in a graven shroud,
and laid in a deep
hole hewn of rock,
and so soon forgotten,
filled with
invitation for hungry worms.
The least the Creator had
to offer,
in truth, the best
They could commit,
to wrap the gift
of salvation to mankind,
Jesus the Christ, the Son
of God,
in shekinah glory,
the light of morning,
and lifting us up
into rapturous cumulus,
filled with
the promise of eternal love.
