The hardest thing
About being a dad--
When we can't watch
When our kids hurt,
Knowing they just
Have to go through it.

It was the hardest thing
For God the Father too--
When He couldn't watch
When His Son Hurt,
Knowing He just
Had to go through it.

It is the hardest thing,
But because we're dads,
It's love that knows--
Hurt too we must, and
Go through it, we will.
