I saw
where the goats go
after the Shepherd
separates them
from the sheep
and sends them away.

Forever alone
standing in an everlasting
field of weeds behind a neverending
run of barbed-wire fence.

With an eternal eye
staring through the everpresent
smokey waves of burning chaff
at the sheep in endless gambol
beneath the barnyard eave.

And the Shepherd's wrath
echoing still across the heavens:
"Depart from me you cursed...
Depart from me...
Depart!"
