Goodness and Mercy

.
From either side of the flock
They will run ahead and block the way,
Then they'll run back behind
And push where they're supposed to go.

Though not a bark is heard,
They may well resort to giving the eye,
Staring without scaring,
A balance point they must observe.

Goodness and Mercy,
Sheepdogs extraordinaire,
One to meet every need
The other for when we stray
All along the journey home.
