His Lamb was there
at the very first light.
When God made man,
His Lamb was there
when all was well.
When God's heart broke,
His Lamb was there
when man first sinned.
When God wanted sacrifice,
His Lamb was there,
but Cain wasn’t able.
When God had enough,
His Lamb was there
in the form of an ark.
When God tested faith,
His Lamb was there,
sparing Issac's life.
When God saved Israel,
His Lamb was there
as death passed over.
When God lead in the desert,
His Lamb was there,
the vaunted Mercy Seat.
When God crossed the Jordan,
His Lamb was there
at the altar of remembrance.
When God toppled Jericho
His Lamb was there,
as the trumpets blared.
When God made the first
king
His Lamb was there
and protected David's brow.
When God exiled His own
His Lamb was there,
and stood in the fire.
When God went silent
His Lamb was there
and prophets said it all.
When God sent His Son,
His Lamb came in the flesh,
grace arrived, once for all.
When God sent His Spirit,
His Lamb came home,
and His Spirit was preserved.
And as for the acts of new
believers,
It is true...then and now...
His Lamb has always been,
and will always be.
