I know a potter who makes
plates
and bowls,
and cups and saucers too,
making both formal and traditional
ware,
it's just what
all good potters do.
Each piece has its own role
and place,
even butter
dishes and mugs have jobs,
all part of the master potter's
grand plan,
with none made
as mere bits and bobs.
But not always is everyone
so willing
to do what
the potter has in mind,
sometimes a saucer wants
to be a cup
or a dish fancies
itself another kind.
On one hand, free-will is
so good,
where a bowl
can be a cup for tea,
but it's equally more than
so sad,
not being
what we were made to be.
