We are born in chains
to someone or something,
It is the nature of life
on this spinning dirt clod.
But by the grace of God,
we get to choose which or
Whom our shackles will be
affixed as we walk around.
I choose to be a slave
to Jesus the Christ, alone.
All I ask is as the strength
of that chain is so grown,
It becomes ever shorter,
drawing me closer to You.
