Wired for longing
when our children leave the nest,
when friends or family move away,
when parents pass on,
all natural as natural could be,
God gave us marriage
for a mate for life man so needs,
for a partner in work she must be,
for never should either be alone,
all so lonely they would not be,
And in the event of becoming
widowed,
or, God forbid, divorced, God said:
It will be I who will be with you,
even to the age's end. Amen.
