There are too many Just
Marthas
puttering about,
making a big deal of all
the things
of the church,
and not near enough Also
Marys
sitting on
the floor,
making an even bigger deal
of who the
church is for.
Both hold close Jesus' sacred
robe,
but one more
so to be sure
to smooth its wrinkled creases,
while the other
seeks also
to draw life from its hemmed
power.
It is important to make
sure
all is ready,
and to serve the body,
But so much more important
to put first
an unflinching focus
on its Head.
