When a child covers his
eyes
to make someone disappear,
And the person's still standing
there,
nothing's really changed, has it?
Only in the child's mind.
Enmity toward the Christ
will not make Him disappear,
or ever take His eyes off you.
He will still be the stumbling
stone
upon which you will trip when
you get up to go.
When a child covers his eyes
thinking he has disappeared
And the child's still standing
there,
nothing's really changed, has it?
Only in the child's heart.
Apathy toward the Christ
will not make you disappear,
or ever be invisible to Him.
He will still be the grinding
stone
under which you will indeed be
turned to flour.
When a child keeps his eyes
wide open,
and does not run and hide,
He will see where he stands
indeed
in relation to what is true,
In both mind and heart.
Acceptance of the Cornerstone,
will allow you to stand forever
safely beneath the great
weight it supports,
And it will be more than
marvelous
in all our eyes.
