Two angels stood, one past,
the other yet to be.
With cherubim and flaming
sword
flashing forth and back
behind us, guarding
the now-forbidden garden
gate of Eden, access
denied,
because of sin, lost were
the Tree of Life and
walking with God.
But forward facing, looking
far ahead
we see a hope surpassing
all understanding,
an angel shows us a new
river, a new light, a new
home,
and the Tree of Life beckons
us again to eat of its
forever fruit.
Make way for New Jerusalem,
the seventh trumpet blasts!
When all ages of man have
come and gone,
when the first heaven and
first earth finally pass,
when God's own hand lowers
it down from His
throne,
the Holy City, the New Jerusalem,
will be our
heavenly home.
A place of unimagined promise
and blessing,
a place for healing of all
nations, no more curse,
water of life, streets of
gold, and light for all from
God,
ready for the feast, the
Tree of Life stands astride the
river.
And the Spirit of God will
say, "Come! Welcome
to the wedding of the bride
and the Lamb."
