.

No Bitter Root

.
Hurtful words are hard rocks
That turn into light feathers
After they have had their sting,
Left the mark that they bring,
And blow away in the wind
Never to take them back again.

Time and forgiveness alone
Can heal all such wounds,
But memory holds on tight
To rocks thrown with might,
Ones you cannot so forget,
Harms way to not again let.

We must also forget like God
But only He forgives like that,
Like with us in Jesus Christ,
It was He who paid the price,
His death for ours the bargain,
And so earned our sin's pardon.

In the end, we can forgive
And move on with our lives
Because God is in us, loving
Through us, behind forgetting,
So no bitter root can start
And grow deep in the heart.
