Jesus loves us,
this we know
because
He told us so.
He loves us to death,
and this we
know because
He showed us so.
But do we yet grasp
how wide, long,
high, and deep
is this love, and still know
by how far it surpasses being so?
We can see sky,
but how far
are its corners?
We can think eternity,
but how long
does its journey go?
We can see stars,
but how high
do they so shine?
And we can dip our toes
in sea,
but how deep
do they know?
Every person, every place,
every circumstance,
He loves.
For all time, past, present
and future,
forever and
unending, He loves.
From beyond the high heavens,
no matter earth's
rotation, He loves.
And full beyond measure,
ocean
vast and unseen,
He loves.
Can you grasp it better
now,
and still know
not its bounds?
Perhaps this will help:
Though He knows every heart,
it is more
important
He knows yours.
Though He knows your heart,
it is even
more important
He hears every beat.
Though He hears each beat,
it is much
more important
He knows why.
It's why the King of kings
stepped down
from His throne,
and into His creation's own home.
It's why the Lamb of lambs
turned His
neck to the knife,
and buried in such violent strife.
And it's why the Son of
sons
rose from the
tomb so sealed in,
and out its door into a world of sin.
He knew from the beginning
we'd
need Him to
hold us close and tight,
and wipe away our tears in the night.
