We wade confident into the
foamy surf
to challenge each wave after
wave
as they crash down upon
us.
Most times, as they pass,
we're still standing tall,
but sometimes we
topple and
fall.
No sense hanging onto what's
passed,
especially if knocked to
your knees,
a rogue you weren't ready
for,
because another's coming,
and the goal's the same,
but with help this time
to remain standing,
to stay above
it all.
One thing I strive to do
each time I fall
is forget the one that knocked
me down,
and, calling on God's strength
within,
face the evil temptation
of the very next,
and gain the prize of the
upward call.
