Autumn comes
summer goes,
leaves fall
and the question is
why
rake them at all?

It takes a good rake
light
with stiff tines,
and proper form
back straight
knees bent
more drag
than
pull.

Tidy piles are best
not one
mammoth,
and certainly not
in the wind 
or rain
or dark,
timing
is everything.

The wind blows where it will
and leaves fall where they may,
the trick is 
waiting
until
    the

           leaf
              falls.
