Saints in the Light

.
Though commanded
     to pay evil its due,
Christian would not,
     and he was arrested
          and jailed.

"Strengthened with all power,
According to His glorious might,
For all patience and endurance"

Though commanded again
     to pay homage to sin,
Christian would not,
     and he was stripped
          naked to the world.

"Strengthened with all power,
According to His glorious might,
For all patience and endurance"

Though commanded again
     and again to bow down,
Christian would not,
     and he was whipped
          almost to death.

"Strengthened with all power,
According to His glorious might,
For all patience and endurance"

Though commanded again
     and again and again,
Christian would not,
     and salt was poured
          upon his wounds.

"Strengthened with all power,
According to His glorious might,
For all patience and endurance"

Though commanded again
     and again and again
          and again,
Christian would not,
     and he so cried out,
          until he died.

"Strengthened with all power,
According to His glorious might,
For all patience and endurance"

Though commanded again
     and again and again
          and again and again,
Christian would not
     deny the One he loves
          and Who loves him.

"Strengthened with all power,
Qualified to share in the inheritance
Of the saints in the light."
