Seeds of the King's Garden

.
Chewed to stubble,
     savory shrubs,
          festive flowers,
               and holy herbs,
                    the king’s garden
                         came to no more...
When the Gardener
     left the gate open
          for the wily jackals
               to enter in.

But in a pocket
     He kept seeds
         the hungry hounds
              couldn't get at to eat,
Seeds of the King's garden,
of the lily they would be,
          for the Gardner to plant
               at an appointed later day,
When the time would come
for a rebirth of the Promised Land,
          when the vine of Judah
               would finally forever stand.

Jeremiah 52

*God did not forget the Davidic line
through Judah, even in exile from
Jerusalem
