Well Worn Stones

Well worn stones,
On paths trod long underfoot
By saints gone before us,
Cry out: why? Oh, why?
These things you do,
Chasing other gods
And giving them the silence
They most want from you?
Put them away!
And press your ear
To the chest of the heart
That beats: follow Me!

Dear Lord Jesus:
What good
Have I made my god?
To what treasure
Have I sold my heart?
And what of God's
Have I given to Caesar?
I will be a witness,
What You have spoken to me,
Instead of leaving it to old dead stones,
Just as you meant it to be.
