.
There's a Cross
on a Hill
.
There's a cross on a hill
just off the road
heading out of town.

A rutty old road goes up there
winding up and around
stopping just short
of the hillside's crown.

And it calls all passersby
in their heart of hearts
to turn, to come
to lay their heads down.

There's a cross on a hill
on the road out of town
can you see it?
There's a cross on a hill
on the road back home
can you hear it?
Standing there so plain
don't make it call in vain
turn, and come to it!

His cross stood just like that
when His all gave He
and made His way up Calvary.
And it called then just the same
to hearts of the past
to come to Him long at last.

There's a cross on a hill
just off the road
heading out of town.

A rutty old road goes up there
winding up and around
stopping just short
of the hillside's crown.

It calls you, a passerby
in your heart of hearts
to turn, to come as well,
to lay your head down.

There's a cross on a hill
on the road out of town
can you see it?
There's a cross on a hill
on the road back home
can you hear it?
Standing there so plain
don't make it call in vain
turn, and come to it!
