It was dark in the tomb
Where Jesus lay,
But it was lights out in
hell
For He won the day.
Sin and death and the devil
too
Clung to every shrinking
shadow,
While fresh from victory
Jesus set all captives free
To forever roam in God's
good meadow.
Three days He did lay,
The debt for our sin He
did pay,
But three days too He did
parade,
To the abyss and back
The way home He made.
