One Christmas early,
when I was but a boy,
I heard the baby Jesus cry,
as my heart knew His hunger,
And all I could do was sigh.
One Easter late,
when I had become a man,
Jesus for sure heard my
cry,
as His heart knew my hunger,
And throughout the heavens,
echoed long His sigh.
Today I remember,
Jesus loved me first,
But now I understand why,
all He gave up for me
Still makes me cry.
The day I loved Him back,
it was blood for blood,
But nowhere near in measure,
in Him I am holy, and now
I serve at His great pleasure.
