.
Where Faith Does Trod
.
Promises, promises
They know they can't keep,
But say them they will
Until we fall fast asleep.

Early leaves do promise
Low hanging fruit aplenty,
But hide the empty truth
Behind their abundancy.

Promises, promises
They know they can't keep,
But say them they will
Until we fall fast asleep.

Rich green leaves do shout
Sweetness beyond belief,
But in our deep hunger
We find little or no relief.

Promises, promises
They know they can't keep,
But say them they will
Until we fall fast asleep.

Even our Lord did see
When He hungered deep,
And cursed the barren fig,
Liars mean it to keep.

Promises, promises
They know they can't keep,
But say them they will
Until we fall fast asleep.

For all the world to see
Withered sure from its root,
The lesson for us is clear:
Apart from Him there is no substitute.

Promises, promises
They know they can't keep,
But say them they will
Until we fall fast asleep.

Eat and be more than fed
Be filled and trust in God,
He who dries up all lies
Yet waters where faith does trod.
