More than watering the vine
to bring forth the grape,
Or changing common water
into the best of all wine,
Jesus' first miracle, at
Cana
was a glimpse, a preview
What He really came to do,
not just to save a wedding,
But to prepare His one bride
for a wedding of their own,
Trading water for cleansing
for the blood of the Lamb.
Water splashes on our hands
to wash away the dirt,
But God pours mercy on us
to wash away our sin.
