Lain long silent in our
dark graves,
Jesus has only to speak
our names,
And we will stand and come
forth.
Unable to wake from death
alone,
From Jesus we receive ears
to hear,
With only linen vestiges
left to bear.
Into the light of day we
come sure,
Where Jesus orders our bonds
loosed,
And God’s glory is made
manifest.
We are Lazarus.¹
