What's heaven, grandpa?
Well, my child, it's a wonderful
place
where the person
who created everything
lives
with his son, and with angels
too many to count.
They all live in a large
house,
in a big city, on
top of a high mountain.
The walls surrounding the
city
are made of precious
jewels
like
sapphire, emerald, and amethyst.
There are twelve gates in
the walls,
leading into the
city made of only pearl,
and they
stay open all the time.
The streets in the city
are made
of nothing but the
finest gold.
The grounds are filled with
fountains
forever flowing with
crystal clear water.
The skies are always filled
with light,
as night there never
dawns.
A great tree stands near
the house,
straddling both sides
of a river that flows
through
the heart of the city.
And at the center of this
great house
is a throne where
the creator of all sits,
with
his son always to his right,
and angels filling the air around,
singing without end, "Holy, holy, holy."
In this house, are also
many rooms,
empty, waiting to
be filled with
all the
people like you and I who
believe in and follow the son's steps,
Where we will
worship without distraction,
serve
without exhaustion,
fellowship without fear,
learn without fatigue,
rest without boredom,
and love without end,
Where we will see Jesus
face to face,
with no more hunger,
no more thirst,
with
no more tears, no more pain,
serving him forever and ever,
filled with neverending
peace, joy and praise.
Amen.
