When Mary in the garden
responded with great alacrity
the gardener she beheld instead
Was her risen Rabboni.
When disciples on the road
responded with great alacrity
the stranger they beheld instead
Was their risen Lord Jesus.
When apostles in the room
responded with great alacrity
the ghost they beheld instead
Was the risen Son of God.
When Jews in the streets
responded with great alacrity
the drunks on the porch instead
Were filled with the Spirit
of Christ.
When we in our dark lives
respond with great alacrity
when in our souls we first see
The truth of our only Lord
and Savior.
Alacrity
eyes open wide
forever truth finally seen
heart and mind both so race
As hands rise to cover the
mouth
in more than the greatest surprise
and feet begin to dance with zeal
Enthusiasm
that tastes so good
you crave even more
of that revelatory meal.
