"Cut Some Rug"*
(Hallelujah Series 2)
The sad song stopped playing
As He set my feet to dancing,
And I wondered is it enough?
To dance like no one's watching,
Or if I should really cut some rug,
Not for all eyes to gaze at me,
But so only He gets the prize.

Psalm 30

* "cut some rug" is a vintage expression
from the 1920s for dancing, but not just
any dancing, but instead dancing that is
done so well and with so much enthusiasm,
as if the whole world was watching. 2nd in
a series of poems called the Hallelujah Series
