There's no light in her
eyes
when she sees me these days,
except for what she saves
to shine on others,
and I get jealous.
The guilt comes when I see
such light
in others' eyes, and I like
it.
These days I find the light
I need
Shining from above
Through the leaves on the
trees,
Soothing my aching heart
When I am on my knees,
Setting stones along the
edge
Of a rustic prayer trail
In an old wood next to a
church.
Solari!*
as the French call it,
is my time in that wood,
whether the sun shines or
not,
but The Son always pours
all the light I need
to fill the deep shadows
that threaten my thoughts.
2 Corinthians 4:5-7
*Solari,
primarily a surname, typ-
ically means "of the sun"
or "re-
lated to the sun". It comes
from
the Latin word "sol," meaning
sun.
It can also refer to a place
named
Solaro or Solara, which
means
"land exposed to the sun."
In some
contexts, "solari" can also
mean
"to console" or "to soothe." |
