T-Bud Grapevine Grafting: the old vine
head is decapitated, all loose bark is cleared away, a vertical 3-4cm incision
is made in the bark on the side of the vine stem near where the head was
cut off, a horizontal 2-3cm incision is also made in the bark just below
the top of the vertical cut, the lower corners of the cut bark at the intersection
of the two incisions are peeled back, the new bud shoot is inserted and
pushed down under the bark well below the bottom of the vertical cut, and
the vine is then wrapped with white cloth over the cuts, leaving just enough
of a hole along the stem for the hoped-for new bud to spring forth. |
